Artificial Scales
Completely smooth “scales” with no texture (other than, perhaps, some lumps). Scars are common, as these artificial scales do not heal. They should be made of clay, metal, or some other artificial substance. They may be segmented or robotic. Their colors may take from the base colors of their element or gray for metal or red for clay. It may be matte or polished. This only applies to the body and tail of the dragon. You may choose to have only some parts of the dragon’s body covered in artificial scales. They have smooth scales underneath their artificial scales. If the artificial scales are removed, the dragon may have slightly darker scales there. Wings and limbs will be natural body parts unless otherwise noted. More info here.
Feathered Scales
A coat of feathers that covers the dragon’s body. You may choose to leave the head and/or the legs bare, including just portions of them, free of feathers. They should not resemble thick fur or protofeathers.
Smooth Scales
Silky smooth reptilian scales that do not protrude out from the body.
Velvet Scales
Short spines that resemble fur or velvet. They will never be longer than the fur of a long-haired cat. They will not have feathering/extra long hair on the legs unless they also have the Feathering modifier.
