Battles

Battles are a way for Riders and Dragons to settle their differences, defend what’s precious to them, and have a bit of fun. They are naturally dangerous, but the rewards make up for it.

Forms

Send a group note with the following form to initiate the battle:

BATTLE CHALLENGE
Rider Import:
Dragon Import:
Challenging: (username of player or Emissary you are challenging)

The group will respond to let you know the contestants. Once the challenge has started, send a note to the group with this form before the deadline:

Element Strengths and Weaknesses

Dragons and Riders take varied damage depending on their element. They will resist damage from compatible elements, but take extra damage from opposing elements. These effects stack. In example, if an Ocean/Fire dragon is attacked with a Storm element attack, the compatible Ocean would halve the damage, but the opposing Fire would double it. This makes it neutral damage. On the other hand, a pure Ocean would take half damage from Storm attacks. A pure Fire would take double damage from Storm attacks. Use the elemental wheel to determine how types relate to each other. Here is a table to quickly show weaknesses and resistances:

Additionally, purebred dragons and Riders will deal double damage in their respective element. Keep this in mind when facing off against purebred opponents!

Learning Attacks

How do I learn and turn in an attack?
Depict your dragon using the skill in one image or six hundred words. Images should have shading, color, and a background with a sense of depth. Use the normal Art Turn-in to turn in your attacks. For Activity, put Move Learning – (attack or skill name here).

What attacks can my character learn?

A dragon can only learn attacks and skills that are in their magic level or lower. In example, a Tier III fire dragon can’t learn a Tier IV attack. Similarly, a Dragon Companion that has not completed a Tier IV magic session can’t unlock the corresponding magic skills, and they can’t unlock the base skills of a Dragon Knight. For a full list of attacks, attack tiers, and their effects, check this page.

Status Effects

Certain skills will induce status effects. Some status effects only involve battle, while others have detrimental effects outside of battle. Heal these status effects as soon as you can!

StatusEffect
Charmed -2 to all stats until cured. Wears off after one challenge activity.
BurnedEach activity and battle turn deals -5 HP. unable to participate in challenges after the battle is completed.
PoisonedEach activity and battle turn deals -10 HP.
StunnedIn battle, 50% chance of being unable to move. Outside of battle, 50% chance of failing an activity, regardless of buffs. Wears off after an activity fails.
BurdenedIn battle, Dexterity is halved. Unable to participate in Adventures without a Rider or character from another player helping. Healed by eating an elemental gemstone matching the dragon.
SleepDuring battle, 100% chance of skipping a turn. For each turn skipped, the chance of waking up increases: Turn One, 50%; Turn Two, 75%; Turn Three, 100%. Outside of battle, lose any non-battle Challenges. Wears off after a loss.
ConfusedDuring battle, there is a 30% chance that the dragon will deal 15 damage to itself at the start of a turn. During Adventures, the dragon will bring home random elemental loot instead of loot matching the Terrain.
DespairUnable to act unless a character belonging to another player is in the image.
Cursed-10% chance of success in Activities. -10% accuracy in battle.
CorrosionStats cannot be increased by any means in Activities (trainer buffs, food, training, etc.). This effect begins immediately in battle.

Turn Order

For battles, players send a list of five actions for their dragon in the order that they want to use them. Additionally, Riders may act each time your dragon acts. The attacks are entered into our battle roller and the winner is the first one to KO the other dragon. Here is an example form:

Turn One: Battle Cry (Rider: Kindle)
Turn Two: Lava Shot (Rider: Ignite)
Turn Three: Lava Shot (Rider: Kindle)
Turn Four: Lava Shot (Rider: Ignite)
Turn Five: Burnout (Rider: Kindle)

What happens if I select an attack that uses an item, but my characters faint before they can use them?
The expendable item will not be used.
