Designing Your Rider
Riders can be anything and everything under the sun…so long as they are capable of riding a dragon! For four-legged Riders, you’ll need special gear to help them strap in for a ride. Dragons are typically ‘fated’ for a certain Rider and will grow to just the right size to accommodate them. Some will stay small if their rider needs more of a working companion, though such dragons cannot participate in races and similar activities. Riders of an unreasonably large size will be turned away.
Here is all the information you need on the canon races:
| Where the Compass Points |
You do not need to use a canon race. If you choose to use a race outside of the two planets, your character’s homeland will be marked as the Chronoscape. This is where non-canon raises are from. You are free to incorporate a separate world that they hail from, make their origins Chronoscape proper, or leave their origins ambiguous. As more worlds are introduced (Shérok and Eredia are just the beginning), it’s possible that one of them may match your character. You may change the origin if that happens!
For more information on the Chronoscape, read this page: | The World of Chronoscape |
Directions for Writers/People with no Illustrated Designs:
Simply grab a background of the correct element, put the corresponding elemental gemstones on it, and fill out the written description as usual. Unlike normal images, you may center these gemstones!
Directions for Artists/People with Illustrated Designs:
You should submit one full body, colored image of the Rider and place it on an import background of a corresponding element. Shading is optional. You may pick whatever pose you like, as long as the design is easy to see. If you did not draw the image, you will need to provide proof of permission for its use. As long as you abide by these rules, your character will be ready for the master list and game play!
FAQ:
Q: What if my character has a particular gender or uses certain pronouns?
A: Put the gender they identify as and put their pronouns in parenthesis afterwards.
Examples:
Gender: Agender (They/Them)
Gender: Male (She/He)
Gender: Genderfluid (Any Pronouns)
If they are cisgender, simply put male or female.
Q: Is there an age limit for Riders?
There is not. Dragons typically mature at the same pace as their Riders, with a one month growth spurt to play ‘catch-up’ right after they hatch.
Q: If my character is not a canon species, but grew up in a canon location, what do I put for Origins?
Go ahead and put where they were born as their Origins.
